A short break in Bowral

We have been looking forward to the long weekend (Labour Day on Monday) as we took Friday off as well for Floriade in Canberra. We headed off from Sydney at 10am to avoid the traffic. By noon time, we stopped at Bowral, a small but nice town, for a short break.

Restaurant: Janeks Cafe & Bar (http://janekscafe.com.au/)

Where: Shop 4 Corbett Plaza Wingecarribee St, Bowral, NSW 2576

A cozy cafe

Smoothies: Banana & Honey (left), Mixed berries (right) – $6.5 each

Weather was very nice – warm and sunny… good for some icy cold drinks!

Janek’s Famous Pot Pie – Beef, Bacon, Bourbon and Beer Pot Pie, Served with shallot & garlic mash, topped with Chef’s butter puff pastry – $20.9

It took a while to wait for the pie to arrive. But it smelled very good when it came. It was nice and hot. The pie crust was nicely done with very juicy beef brisket filling. If you are ordering this for lunch, the portion is big enough that you can share this with another person with some entrée ordered.

Service: 8/10 – Very 7imited number of staff, just one guy working there. But he tried to be as helpful as possible.

Rating: 7/10

Will we go again?  Worth a try but we might try something else if we’re in Bowral again.
